What is a School Based Apprenticeship?
This course is designed for students that undertake study at school while gaining their hairdressing experience under an apprenticeship signed with a salon. This mode of study provides the 'off-the-job' training required to obtain a Certificate II in Hairdressing.
This qualification will provide the School Based Apprentice who wants a career in hairdressing with valuable skills to excel in the profession.
Certificate II in Hairdressing WRH20109 is a qualification teaches students the skills to become a Salon Assistant and is a great pathway option to become a qualified hairdresser.
Listed below are just some of the skills that students will learn:
- Head, shoulder and scalp massage
- Shampoo hair like the professionals
- Blow-dry long hair
- Set and blow-dry short hair
- Creative styling
- Braiding and creative long hair upstyling
- Basic colour application and removal
- Work in a real salon environment.
SACE Credits
The School Based Apprentice will complete 315 nominal hours to gain 45 SACE credits and obtain Certificate II in Hairdressing WRH20109.
Course Structure
School Based Apprentices will attend Clip Joint Education for one day a week from 9.00am to 4.30pm, for a maximum of 12 months training.
Entry Requirements
Entry requirements are in place to make sure that students who gain entry to Clip Joint Education courses have the skills and abilities they require in order to successfully complete their studies. The following are required for all Clip Joint Education courses;
- Good eye and hand coordination, colour awareness and manual dexterity
- A creative instinct is an asset
- Agreement to the policies and procedures as set out by Clip Joint Education
- Demonstrate a passion for hairdressing
- Students are required to be signed up as a School Based Apprentice under a Contract of Training
- Students must be working in a salon and be attending school.
Access to vocational courses is open to all students who have successfully attained the pre-requisite English language level as determined by Clip Joint by Clip Joint Education and met any pre-requisite and entry requirements as stated for each course.
Courses will be offered if enrolment numbers are viable and human and physical resources are available.
