Eliza Cummins

Name: Eliza Cummins

My job: 1st year apprentice at Clip Joint Burnside

When did you realise you wanted to be a hairdresser?
When I was quite young, about 9 or 10 years old. I always went with mum when she went to get her hair cut and always wanted to play hairdressers at home - as well as make-up.

Best hairdressing / make-up / session styling experience to date?
I couldn't pick just one! Top 2 would be working with some of the Clip Joint girls doing the hair and make-up at the AMBC fundraiser ball along with Adelaide designer RAZAK. Also the great team effort from both Clip Joint salons doing hair and make-up for the Burnside Village opening night fashion parade.

Your biggest accomplishment?
Being chosen to be apart of the Junior Art Team and being given the opportunity to work along side Atilio and the other Art Team members.

Who is your favourite style icon?
Miranda Kerr - she can do no wrong! Miranda always looks fresh and glowing and wears a variety of different styles that suit her body. She is also a great role model for young women.

What is your favourite colour?
Purple.

Favourite fashion trend right now?
I LOVE my maxi skirts and dresses, in summer and winter. So diverse and easy to accessorise with! Also good for any occasion day or night. I also like mixing and matching different patterns and textures.

Do you consider yourself an artist?
Of course! Being naturally creative and hands-on; hairdressing and make-up is a great way to express my artistic flair and creativity - it's just not on paper.

What matters to you most as a hairdresser?
Achieving the best outcome for clients so they feel happy and confident with their finished style when leaving our salon.

What advice would you give an aspiring hairdresser?
Make sure you have passion and the drive to achieve your goals and you can do anything.

How would you define your style?
I like to change it up from day to day; with different hair and make-up, however you will most likely see me wearing a maxi dress or skirt!

What are some of your career goals?
I would love to get some experience overseas but I would also like to be doing hair and make-up for photoshoots and fashion catwalks.

What is your favourite fashion magazine?
I love Vogue - Australia and overseas!

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you need to have?
1. Bikini
2. Sunscreen
3. ipod

Favourite holiday destination?
UK - I love visiting family and travelling across the country side. There is so much to see and do!
