In this 18 week course students are taught the fundamental make-up skills to help them use their creativity to create amazing photos to start their portfolios with. The Clip Joint Education team would like to congratulate Cara for coming 'Runner Up Apprentice of the Year 2011'. Cara who has wanted to be a hairdresser since the age of 10 has work exceptionally hard to achieve great heights in her career to date. With fantastic attendance and work ethic at both her salon 'Daly Barber' and at Clip Joint Education it is no surprise that Cara was recognised with this award. Cara seems to live life to the max in work, life and play, with spare time being spent sky diving and socialising with friends. Cara's great attitude can also be attributed to the daily struggle she has living ith Cystic Fibrosis. This has a big effect on her character and allows her to look at things in a more optomistic and positive way.

VET Make-up Students Shine in their 'Face It' Photoshoot

As the school term came to a close, our VET Make-up studnets presented their 'Face It' projects.

This project allowed the girls to truly get creative and design a total look, selecting everything from their model, clothes, photographic location and most importantly the make-up design which would reflect their chosen theme.

Themes varied from Bridal, Fashion, Pin Up and even Alice in Wonderland, just to name a few. The students this year surpassed any expectation and achieved stellar results, as seen with Celine Ashby's final picture with model Zafiro - theme 'Pin Up Salior Girl'

Again, all the girls should be extremely proud of themselves. With work such as this to kick start their careers, we look forward to seeing what they achieve next!

Clip Joint Education students help create character's colourful looks!

On the 21st - 24th September, the Wilderness School Drama department presented a performance of Rudyard Kipling's beloved tale, 'The Jungle Book'. The story is filled with wild characters including tigers, bears, monkeys and wolves. The intricate and elborate costumes for the jungle creatures were brought to life with wild hairstyles designed by Clip Joint Education, lead by Lisa Farrell and Desiree O'Connor. Renowned Adelaide make-up artist Emma Hack completed the looks with her signature flamboyant make-up designs.

Congratulations to everyone involved and a big thanks to Desiree O'Connor and Lisa Farrell from the Certificate IV program at Clip Joint Education for their hard work and time. Their creativity helped to produce unforgettable portrayals of the creatures of the jungle; including the character of the Wily Jackal (seen above with Clip Joint Education student Desiree O'Connor.

It's great to see Clip Joint Education students winning awards left, right and centre! The latest achievements have been by Certificate II in Hairdressing students Rachael Angrave and Abby Johnson who both won VET Student of the Year at Burra Community School and Nuriootpa High School respectively!

Both Rachael and Abby were judged on several aspects of their VET studies. They had to demonstrate how studying VET Hairdressing at Clip Joint Education had increased their skills, what they had learnt about the importance of studying Certificate II in Hairdressing and how that was important in the workplace as well as how the course will help them in their future career pathways.

From all the teachers and staff at Clip Joint Education, congratulations and well done on such an achievement.

"2010 has been an amazing and successful year for many of our students, who through our VET programs have achieved their SACE requirements and gained great skills in a fun and interactive environment," Kerriewent on to say.

The Clip Joint Education staff would like to congratulate Emma Ronksley on winning the 2009 Vocational Student Award. Emma only recently found out she had won and was "totally surprised" . Emma was nominated last year by her Cornerstone teacher Mrs. Masson, for her diligence and hard work with her vocational studies throughout 2009.

Emma has been studying at Clip Joint Education since 2008, when she studied Certificate II in Hairdressing and loved it. Emma has now advanced on to an Apprenticeship with Strath Hair Fashions, whilst completing her Certificate III in Hairdressing studies at Clip Joint Education.

Miranda North wins BIG!

Well done Miranda on winning the Australian School-Base Apprenticeship of the year 2009!

Miranda, one of our very talented studens, was over the moon when she found out she had just won the award for Australian School-Base Apprentice for 2009.

Miranda's St Joesephs's School teacher Mr Scott Ambrose nominated Miranda as he was clearly as impressed as us with her enthusiasm, talent and effort she was applying to her work at The Hair Worx and study at Clip Joint Education.

The Clip Joint Education Team couldn't be prouder of Miranda and her achievements.

Hot new VET Program for 2010!

Clip Joint Education has upgraded the very popular Certificate II in Hairdressing VET program to be consistent with the 'Future SACE' program. The course is now delivered over one year, with students gaining 3 SACE points per successfully completed semester, totalling 6 SACE points for the year.

The ever popular 2 Day Introduction to Hairdressing course has been scheduled for the following dates

23rd & 24th April 2009
16th & 17th July 2009
8th & 9th October 2009

This course provides an insight into the world of hairdressing. Most suited to secondary school students who are thinking about a career in hairdressing. Learn the answers to the questions most often asked:
Does my hair look good like this?
How do hairdressers do such neat ponytails?
What is teasing?
Is the pay good?
How do apprenticeships work?

Topics include:
Head and scalp massage
Shampoo like a professional
Blow dry long hair
Creative styling
Using flat irons to create different effects
Braiding and creative up styling

These and other questions will be answered in this fast paced, hands-on 2-day workshop.
